Pilot Uninjured After Helicopter Loses Power and Crashes in McMinn County
A helicopter pilot walked away uninjured after his aircraft lost power and crashed in McMinn County, according to an investigative report from the McMinn County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
The pilot, who also owns the helicopter, told investigators that a sudden loss of engine power caused the crash. Despite the impact, he declined medical transport, telling emergency responders he was unharmed.
Deputies secured the crash site while awaiting the arrival of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) investigators, who will determine the cause of the incident, the report said.
Sheriff Joe Guy urged the public to stay clear of the area while emergency personnel worked to secure and clear the scene.
