A POWERFUL storm hit Narromine NSW around lunchtime today, Wednesday 26 November, causing massive damage to the town and outlying areas.

Narromine aerodrome, which was hosting the local gliding club’s popular Narromine Cup Week event, was badly hit. Reports are filtering through of up to five gliders having been extremely damaged in a tie-down area while two hangars were structurally damaged. Two gliders housed in these hangars are also thought to be damaged.
Wind gusts of up to 63kts were reported. Power is still out over a large area.

A terrible day at Narromine.
A storm came through around 12.30. It broke a steal line securing two gliders. Four gliders were flipped on their backs, hangar doors were blown in, roof panels removed , trees blown over. A house’s roof in Narromine lost its roof and took out the power lines.
Dave threw himself heroically on the wing of the 29 to save it! Unfortunately it does have some damage to the left aileron.

We extend our deepest sympathies to all those involved! Luckily there were only bruises and cuts to the people on the field
